My childhood cassettes | Glücksgeist

A few weeks ago I got a few Hanni und Nanni (St. Clares) books because I really wanted to read the stories again. Aas a child I didn’t care much about the books, it was all about the cassettes, so I was really sad that I got rid off them. You can listen to the stories on Spotify but that’s just not the same and I really want to show my children these cassettes and make them listen to these stories in an old school way, so I got a few cassette tapes on eBay.

I was searching ebay for a few days and then found a pack of them for a really good price and ordered them. They arrived a little late and I was panicking that they wouldn’t come but when I opened the parcel I was the happiest child in the entire world.

I listened to these stories every single day on my cassette recorder. When a cassette got broken I was so obsessed, but I also loved fixing them when the string got tangled up. There was something so satisfying about that.

I had one story on CD and I never listened to it because I hated that it wasn’t a cassette. Which is so funny because after a few years I got rid off all my cassettes because CDs were so much cooler and now nobody is using any of these things anymore.

Did you listen to cassette tapes and do you miss them? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Throwback! I love cassette tapes! The main thing I remember using them for, is getting blank ones and waiting for a song on the radio to show up then recording it. I always made myself mix tapes so I could listen to them on my walkman. Ah memories 🙂 I’m really sad that I’ve lost them all now though 😦

      1. Haha, it was so much fun! We had to listen to the radio all day, and when that one song came up, run to the casette player to hit record 😀 I have so many memories doing that growing up! It felt like we earned our mix tapes 🙂
