Easy and quick Gift idea | Glücksgeist

Christmas was just around the corner, but there are still more things to celebrate like birthdays. You can’t run out of gift ideas, so I thought I share a simple but super nice one with you today. I made this for my friend for Christmas and she absolutely loved it.

All you need for this is a jar of your choice and a recipe, I went for a cake recipe. As I said it’s super simple. You break your recipe apart and add all the dry ingredients into your mason jar. Then you add a little note with what the person has to add and how long they have to bake the cake or whatever you go for. How amazing and simple is this gift idea?

I absolutely love it! If you don’t know what recipe you should go for I have a little one for you prepared.

What you have to add to the jar:

  • 180 grams of flour
  • 80 grams of cocoa powder
  • 1 and a half tsp baking soda (German: Natron)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 270 grams of sugar
  • 140 grams of brown sugar
  • 2 packages of vanilla sugar

What the person has to add to it to get a delicious cake:

  • 4 eggs
  • 80 ml water
  • 240 grams of sour cream
  • 60 ml vegetable oil

Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Then take a separate bowl and add the wet ingredients to it. Mix until well combine. Add the wet mixture into the dry and mix until well combined. Bake the cake or the 24 muffins at 160 degrees Celsius for 35 to 40 minutes (muffins: 18-20 minutes).

How amazing is this present? I absolutely love it. As always let me know what you think of it in the comments below.

Love, x

  1. I love this! So cute! I use to do hot chocolate in jars back in the day. I would also bake goodies in jars (pies, cheesecake, cakes, cupcakes, brownies etc) and give them as presents. literally I think anything in a jar is ridiculously cute 🙂 ❤

  2. I never knew these were a thing until a couple of years ago when my friend had a gingerbread one. I think they’re great and I’d thought about making a couple as gifts last year. Plus I love how the layers look in the jar 🙂
