BLOGGER TALK #1 |Glücksgeist

Grab a drink, maybe some snacks because my first ever blogger talk starts now. I really love to read these kind of posts where people speak about their blogging experiences, maybe give some advice our share personal every day things with their readers. In the last time I really felt like I wanted to start this series on my blog and share some blogging things but also personal things about myself. So this is not only about blogging advice, how to … and stuff like that. I’m trying to give you a good mix of both and if you can’t tell already by my super long intro I’m really excited for this.

Today I want to talk with you about collaborations. I think I’m quite collab crazy at the moment and I enjoy making these so much that I had to share my experiences with you. Of course I am by far not a pro, but you know that already. Just sharing the blogging joy with you.

My first collab was a Christmas related one. I really wanted to ask my favourite bloggers to collab with me at that time, but I was a little nervous about it. I didn’t know if my blog was advanced enough to already do collabs but know I think no matter if you started blogging three years ago or today you should definitely collab whenever you want to.
I went on Instagram, wrote a little message to one of the coolest bloggers Jamie from Don’t give a jam and she actually said yes to collab with me. Maybe you saw our Christmas food collab, if not you can check it out here.

Of course I’ve never done a collab before so I read one or two from different bloggers to get an idea on how to do it. And actually it’s pretty simple. The only thing I was a bit unsure of was the intro but it works just the same as a regular post with a little hint of award post tagging.

After our great and my first collab, I was super happy and enjoyed blogging more than ever. Of course I wanted to do a second one and again Jamie and I joined together and shared our favourite pizzas. I shared a few pictures of mine and Jamie uploaded a video of hers. The thing with collabs is that although you talk about the same thing you still are super free to do whatever you want. That’s probably the best thing about it because I always feel so creative when I do these.

After this I wrote Bea, then Angela asked if I want to collab with her, Ughmango and I joined together and Phoebefrancesca had the best idea for our collab last week. You see after the first one you get the vibe of it and I got totally addicted to them.

So now why do I love collabs so much? Getting ideas for posts can be hard sometimes and although I love blogging it can be a bit difficult sometimes. Sometimes I don’t have the motivation to blog or I just feel uninspired. Collabs are such an exciting thing and because you don’t want to let the other person down I always put so much effort into them.

  • collabs make me feel super creative
  • I always want to create the best post I can do because I know the other person I’m collabing with is trying their best as well
  • You can step out of your comfort zone and try something new
  • If you run out of ideas the other person might have some you like
  • By collabing you show your readers an amazing blog they might not know
  • and the other person shows their readers your blog and maybe they like it and stay
  • you form a closer relationship to the other blogger and that’s probably the coolest thing #bloggingfamily

My advice

We’re all still learning and although I am definitely not a pro I would like to share a few tips and tricks with you.

First of all don’t be scared to ask for a collab, the only “bad” thing that could happen is that the person says no.

Find a topic you both like to talk about. There’s nothing wrong about trying something new but if you don’t like the topic there’s no point to talk about it.

Plan your collabs, maybe don’t have too many at a time. Finding ideas for collabs is as hard as finding ideas for blog posts so before you ask 20 people to collab with you maybe start with one or two so you have the time to think about good original posts.

I hope you liked this post. It’s my very first one in this series so I’m super excited. Let me know if you like this kind of posts and the next one will come very soon.

Love, x

  1. This is a great idea for a series! I love collabs too! I do agree that it is a little nerve wracking asking someone to do a collab with you, but like you said, the worst outcome is they say no. I loved doing our collab, and I can’t wait to see what other collabs you do in the future 😀

  2. I’ve never collabed with somebody but I do want to try it! I’m not quite sure how you collab with other bloggers, do you just send them an e-mail and suggest some post ideas or how does it work?? Plus, I’m still kind of shy when it comes to comments or e-mails, I really have to start working on that. Your post was very helpful!! 💕 xx
