I am a huge Harry Potter fan. Although I watched the movies a million times and read the books multiple times there are still so many things I don’t know about the Harry Potter universe. Last week I came across some Harry Potter related YouTube videos, or better Harry Potter theories. I never was into theories but ended up watching so many videos and now I have the craziest theories I really support.
I asked you on Instagram if you would like to see a post like this and so many of you said yes. To all the people who don’t love Harry Potter I hope you still enjoy this post. I think it’s really cool too see how people interpret different things and what they even make up.
1. New Scamander gave Hagrid the acromantula
I absolutely love this theory a lot so I had to start with this one. I really loved the fantastic beasts movie and it was so nice to hear words like Hogwarts and Muggle again. As we can tell by the film a lot of things are connected to the Harry Potter universe. Newt Scamander attended the Hogwarts school and although he got kicked out he visited the school quite regular. It would have been super easy for him to give one of his beasts a new home and we all know how much Hagrid loves these “monsters”, so Newt would have been really happy with Hagrid as the new owner of it.
2. It all was just a dream
This isn’t my favourite theory but I read about it a lot so I wanted to talk about it quickly. I do understand why this theory is so popular. Harry lived with the Dursley’s who really hated Harry. Harry always dreamed that a family member would pick him up and he could leave his aunt’s house so why not dream about a school where he had friends and felt like home.
3. Draco Malfoy is a werewolf
This was the very first theory I came across of and I do like it. In Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince Draco is quite a mess. He’s super stressed and scared because of the task Voldemort gave him. He gets super skinny, looks always quite pale and tired. Professor Lupin kind of looked the same because of his transformations into a werewolf which are exhausting. A lot of people think that because of Lucius Malfoy’s big fail in the Ministry, Draco Malfoy got bitten by Greyback as a sort of punishment. I get what they see.
4. Neville was so bad at magic because of his wand
I love this theory and I really think this one is true. Neville Longbottom always was the worst in every class you had to swing a wand around. When he breaks his dad’s wand at the fight in the Ministry though he gets a knew one. After that his skills really improve and he becomes a real talented leader in the Deathly Hallows. In the first book Ollivander tells us that wands choose their owners, Neville used his dad’s old wand so it probably never worked right for him because the wand didn’t choose him.
5. Snape is still alive
I mean I kind of love/hate this theory. I absolutely love Snape and his death was shocking and so so sad. BUT J.K.Rowling couldn’t be so mean and tell us that he’s dead when he isn’t. A lot of people think because his dead body was never seen that he’s still alive and because he’s a great Potions master that he would probably know the antidote to the snake’s poison and prepared himself. I get why you want this to be true but I don’t think so. Love this theory though.
6. Godric Gryffindor is the Giant Squid
This is my favourite theory so far. I really love this one a lot. Probably because I’ve never heard of it before and it was quite surprising to me. I watched a video where the guy explained that a lot of people think Godric Gryffindor is an animagus and stayed in Hogwarts to protect the school. Although Squids are often bad and dangerous animals in books and movies, this one is super friendly and nice to the students. One time when the brother of Colin Creevey falls into the lake he tells his brother that the Giant Squid helped him out. That sounds pretty nice to me.
And that’s it for today’s post. I really hope you enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun writing it. Let me know your favourite Harry Potter theory in the comments below.
