Einmal Gilmore Girl, immer Gilmore Girl – Talking as fast as I can
As a very true ´Gilmore Girl`- I really hope I can call myself this – I was way too excited to finally get my hands on this book. I’ve read a book from `Lauren Graham`before , but it had nothing to do with Gilmore Girls and although it was good I just needed this book in my life.
I would say this is a sort of biography so I’m proud to say this is my very first one that I’ve read. I think I did a pretty good move with this one.
I was so curious to see how much this book would be about Gilmore Girls and although I was looking forward to reading the chapters that are about my favourite series, I also really enjoyed reading all the other ones. It was so interesting to me to read about how `Lauren Graham`ended up in this role and what choices and things she did to get there.
Brake down of each season
I love her brake down of each season and getting these little behind the scenes informations, but the best look at the show was the chapter in which she talks about the A year in the life episodes. Little disclaimer, I don’t LOVE the four episode. There are just things that were a bit meh to me but I still was so excited about the whole coming back and loved the idea of this. Reading about the struggles the show had coming back – not knowing that season 7 was their last season and announcing the return of the Gilmore Girls before even signing the contract for it, was just not what I was expecting or just what I did not know before. Obviously there were rumours and I did read a few things but all this mess was new to me and made me love this show even more. I really felt like I was judging the four episodes a little too much – now knowing how hard it was for them to shoot them and just reading about all these emotional days they had filming it.
Someday, someday, maybe – Lieber jetzt als irgendwann
I also loved reading about her thoughts and her way on writing her novel. Although she just could have signed to a person who literally would sell anything with her name on, she stayed strong and convinced the right people with the quality of her book. Being able to just put your name on a thing and sell it to so many people is weird and maybe a bit easy to do so I had so much respect that `Lauren`didn’t do that and was trying to get her novel out as a novel of an author and not just of an actress.
BUT the one and last thing I ABSOLUTELY I MEAN ABSOLUTELY!!! LOVED was: `Aren’t the last four words a cliff hanger? I mean did you read them, they aren’t a cut – it’s quite an open ending, right`– I can’t wait for this to be happening, please!
Would I recommend this book to you?
Would I recommend this book to a Gilmore Girl?! I mean YES! Would I recommend this book to someone who hasn’t seen the show before? Probably. I don’t know if you would be so hyped about the chapters but I still thought it was really interesting to read about the way of an actress to becoming what she’s now and also seeing real struggles she had on the way there.
Summary and thoughts
Talking as fast as I can is a very nice and easy book to read. I really love how funny Lauren Graham wrote this book and how her personality literally bubbled out of it. To me she’s always going to be my ‘Lorelai Gilmore’ – the mum of ‘Rory’ – but I have even more respect of her after reading how hard she worked to get were she is now and although she has done amazing projects she still knows where she comes from.
My rating: ☆☆☆☆☆/☆☆☆☆☆
